Converting summer wardrobe to fall

It has suddenly seemed to get a little chilly here (especially at night). It seems I was wearing my summer clothing only a few weeks ago (I guess because I was). Have to spend some of this weekend getting fall clothes out and cleaned.

How do others convert their summer to winter wardrobe. It seems I have tons of T shirts/khakis and want to wear some of them into fall. I have added a few darker color khaki pants and bought 1 or 2 button or zip front sweater (to wear over the Ts).I have a few long sleeve Ts but not too many. It seems its too warm for sweaters (especially in the afternoons, but too cold for Ts). What are some of the best ways to make the transition.

I know this isn't a genuine on-topic reply, but I wish I had that problem. In Northern Ontario we are known for our manic weather. We jumped from summer to winter, and just gave fall a miss this year. Sure the leaves changed, but it stayed really warm. Then this morning I wake up and there is snow on the ground. It was melted by noon, but it was there.

I have a lot of clothes that I wear year-round. During the summer, I wear tanks and tees alone, but during the winter, I layer them. I have lots of shirts and sweaters that allow layering, like denim shirts or cardigans. Although I tend to run cold, I'll wear a short sleeve turtleneck shirt/sweater under a cardigan so I can take off the sweater if I get too hot.

In the summer I typically wear chinos with button down cotton shirts (some long sleeved, some short sleeved), although on really hot days I do wear shorts and tee shirts. As the weather gets cooler, I still wear the chinos and button down shirts, sometimes layering them with a thin sweater underneath or a jacket on top. I switch from my summery shoes to midcalf boots.
