Do any strapless bras actually work?

I went searching for a strapless bra today

I have one by Wonderbra that I just love. It has underwires and molded cups, so there is no sausage effect. Plus it really does stay up! It has some kind of rubbery stuff along the sides so it doesn't slip.

A number of brands have the rubbery stuff along the edges, with or without molded fronts.

I bought a strapless bra at Cache' that has a molded front but no back! It has tabs at the sides that attach to the skin with some sort of adhesive tape. Haven't worn it yet but it looks like just the thing for low-back gowns.

Oh yes, they work, for me, anyway.

The strapless bra I had since college finally died, it was a JCP, white, underwire, with kind of an elastic-rubbery thing on the sides, and was sooo comfortable, even though it would not look like it was. It just wore out.

I finally found one I like almost as well. Basically the same style underwire, a bit lower cut, but Vasarette, and I found it at K-Mart (or was it Target'?) and it's nothing fancy, but it's snug enough to support and stay up, but not so much that it's uncomfortable.

I thought of trying those clear straps, but there's something about them that doesn't look right, to me, anyway. (Yeah, I know visible bra straps are in ... for those about half my age.

Oh well, so it goes.
