Anyone seriously interested in a pair of really great boots should visit the Bally store. When Claire and I were in Paris early this year, I managed to convince her to get a pair of dark brown boots that look great and are really comfortable. I have the same pair and I wore it almost everyday last winter. The leather really lasts and does not crinkle and look hideous. The boots are sturdy and very comfortable.
I have not seen everything from this year's fall collection - only the shoes were on display. Bally says that boots will be in the stores in a couple of weeks.

I second the recommendation on Bally boots. I picked up a pair of brown equestrian styled boots off Ebay last year and have loved wearing them. They're well made with supple leather. If only the Bally store here in Dallas hadn't closed, even if I did get some great deals during the clearance.
