How To Balance Your Bustline

Life is full of contradictions - all fashion models (or a large amount of them) are very thin with small bust lines, and on the other hand, one of the feminine symbols is a voluptuous figure and bust line.

How do you make that work with fashion that is made to fit paper thin models, that are barely visable from the side:

The secret of dressing to flatter your bust line is balance Omiru says:

Elongate your upper body, both your torso and your neck, while subtly showing your curves

The reasoning is simple - if you elongate your upper body, your bust looks more proportional, and you achieve a slimmer, more streamline look.

tunic shirt

This tunic shirt is a perfect example of what a elongating your torso with a balancing flare around the knees (or below) can do to balance out our bust line (Wide trousers or a skirt with a flare would work in the same fashion)

Jackets and Coats should be semi fitted, Styles that button directly under the bust line and of course no pockets on the bust line.

Good things to look for in Tops are all kinds of open necks scoop or v necks. round neck or golf necks are a definite NO NO!!
So shirts with long vertical collars are good, and so are wrap arouds, also shirts that have a seam or gathering right under the bust can be very flattering
It is better to go for plain, not patterned fabric, and if the fabric has a pa tern the flow should be vertical and not very contrasting.
Skirts and dresses - much like the shirts - semi fitting, open necked with flared skirts or narrow skirts that flare at the hem for balance

Thank you Omiru for this very useful advise.
