Okay, I got back from the hair dressers a few hours ago and I pretty much haven't stopped crying since. Have you ever asked for something and gotten something completely different?

I had light brown hair. I asked for light blonde platinum high-lights alternating with red low-lights. The hairdresser convinced me that he should just use a semi permanent red on all my hair then bleach out the chunks aftewards, and I agreed to this. Anyways, I wanted platinum blonde hightlights and what I ended up with was orange highlights.

By the time he finished blowdrying my hair, I just wanted him to stop touching it because it looked so awful.. My chunky hightlights are orange...I look like a cracked out spice girl!!!

I know he rushed the bleaching and gave me this song and dance about how the brassy streaks looked better with the red cause he was running overtime and his next appointment was waiting.. I just said 'yeah okay its fine' and left.

I am regretting that now. So... I have two questions...

1) Would it be wrong of me to call and ask him to fix it after I said everything was fine? I really do hate it, and its not like its remorse for the money. I just think I should love my hair after spending $120.

2) I really dislike confrontation with people. (thus the reason why the answer to the above isn't automatically YES!!! for me). Is there a shampoo or a toner that someone can recommend to take out some of the brassyness so my hair will look bearable?

(I have read some news groups that said 'Go see a professional!!!', I went to see one and look what happened to me!!!)

So your hair is a semi-permanent red with highlights that *should* be blonde, but they're orange? It should fade with time, but go to the store and get Sheer Blonde for *platinum to champagne blondes* and this should help take A LOT of the brassyness out of your hair. I would go back to have him fix it, though- just call the place, speak with a receptionist, and they should be very friendly and understanding. You spent $120, you should be feeling satisfied at the very least. We don't care if people come back, we'd rather fix the problem as opposed to having them leave unhappy. It won't hurt his feelings, either, it's fairly simple to fix your problem, and if he actually listens this time, he will have made a potentially new client. I still don't understand why he would he do a red semi-permanent color and then the highlights when you asked for highlights and lowlights over your natural color, though. Hopefully, things will work out in your favor.

I'd call the salon and ask to speak to the manager, explain what happened, ask for an appointment to fix those mistakes, and be sure it's with someone else. Obviously you should not be charged for the appointment to fix these errors. And this stylist owes you an apology.

Because of the damage you could do to your hair with more bleaching. I would not attempt to fix this on my own.

HAVE HIM FIX IT!!! Ok whew, either that or get your money back. You did not get what you wanted and who the hell wants orange highlights? Yeesh. If he gives you a hard time go to the manager. There is NO reason that they should not give you a refund or redo your hair. Aimee

Thanks for all the advice girls. I am going to call and ask them to fix it. Its a small salon and the fella that did my hair is the owner so there is no going over his head. (: I am sure everything will work out fine.

I agree! I've never forgotten the time I colored by hair black by accident (um the first time - lol) with Nice and Easy. I called their number and they suggested another shade of Nice and Easy to fix it. Yeah right!! Lol.

Well I made the opointment and went to get my highlights fixed. He was super nice about it and made sure he got it right this time. I brought a photo so he could see the color that I had envisioned. I am really glad that I went back an gave him a chance to fix it. I will probably go back to get the inevitable roots done because of how nice they were about fix.
