So Friday evening I will be going to a smallish dinner with, among others, Julia Reed. Now Julia Reed is a worst state home girl on the one hand, but OTOH she does write for Vogue (she may even be an editor).
So what to wear what to wear.
(That it will be black is a given.)
The big problem is that the weather is weird: not really fall, not really summer, and that stupid Isidore is going to cause at least 10 inches of rain here in the next two days.
(And yes I know: good problem to have, seeing as how many people are being flooded out all along the Gulf Coast, so I'm mindful of my blessings.)

What are your options? I'm sure there are a few gorgeous Eileen Fisher pieces that could be accessorized with one of your Hermes scarves. You need to be prepared to layer depending on the weather. What on earth do you wear on your feet with so much soggy soil?

This is probably a really dumb question, but why is black a given?
Don't get me wrong, I love black clothing. I just have this *thing* about wearing a color besides standard black when I know that's what everyone else will be wearing (case in point: 10th year class reunion, almost every woman was wearing the LBD, I wore a green pantsuit.).
I hope it's fun for you

When I went back to my high school class reunion in Iowa, the lime green polyester pantsuit was the norm, I was the odd person there in my LBD.

It's all in the accessories, especially shoes (but given the weather, you might find some ironic footwear...not ironic for the weather (!)).
