My hairdresser just put partial highlights (using haircolor) into my brown hair. They were supposed to be a caramel sort of color. They are not exactly that shade-they are more of a red brown. While I like the highlights now, I can see with time (and shampooing) they will probably be too 'orangy'. Is there something I can use to tone down the brassiness? I am using a shampoo for color treated hair at present.

There's a Phyto shampoo (Phyto Silver??? something like that) that's supposed to be used on white hair to counter yellowing that supposedly helps counter brassiness as well. If your highlights really are too orangey, you could also go back to your colorist

You might try Clairol's Shimmer Lights, or Aveda's Blue Malva, or is is Black Malva. Anyway, both should work well.

Artec White Violet counteracts brassiness. You alternate it with a regular shampoo. Hope this helps!
