Not taupes or bones or neutrals...but color color? My new one (used to be a Clinique lavender duo) is MAC Riot. Have I been having fun with this one! Was searching at the beg. of summer for a turquoise that would work for me...not an easy task. But this shade (not really turq...but a deep, dark blue/green??) works really well for my brown eyes and pale complexion. The whites of my eyes look clearer, etc.. I've used it: 1) as an eyeliner, esp. over Rimmel Jungle Green pencil w/ a taupe or bone over the rest of the eye 2) with a fluffy e/s brush to give a sheer wash of color over the whole lid 3) straight-up over the lid only...my least favorite look 4) in the crease only, blended well of course, with a pinky shade over the rest, usually Lancome Color Focus Peep, with dark brown liner and Riot as a liner over that 5) in a pathetic attempt at a smoky eye for night time What's your fav and how have you used it?

I'm loving green (with brown eyes and dark brown hair) which I've only just tried within the last couple of weeks (only ever used brown eye shadows before). I use Maybelline's Cool Effect shadow/liner in Cold Cash and Cool as a Cucumber. I just got L'Oreal's Smoker shadow/liner in Forest today. I use it close to the top lashes. I've used Cold Cash by my lashes and Cool as a Cucumber above it.

No matter what I do though I can't get a green eyeliner to show up on my bottom lashes.

I vote for Jane Eye Zing in Purple Heart, which rumor has it is discontinued but I'm still seeing it at Ulta and WalMart. It's a gorgeous deep plum with the barest hint of shimmer and can be used wet or dry. I've used it pretty much all the ways you described - as a light wash over the lid, as a liner, as a smoky eye. I've tried it dry for a soft look, and wet for a more vibrant look. The only thing I haven't done is put it in the crease, but that's because I have deep-set eyes and putting color in the crease renders it invisible when my eyes are open. When used as a wash, the plum really pops, but if you use it as a liner or smudged out into a smoky eye it doesn't really look purple - it becomes virtually neutral. Black is too harsh on me so I wear this instead when I need a cool-toned eye (otherwise I'm pretty big on browns/taupes/golds/rusts) and it looks amazing. I'm sooo glad I've stocked up on this color!

I'm with Sophie...been doing a lot with greens lately. Any color green works really well with my skintone. My fave combo is:

Jane Twilight Zone (deep shimmery gold green) wet as liner MAC Bitter (bright chartreuse) from inner lid to center Sephora Artist #189 (Bright Kermit-the-Frog green) from center to outer

Makes my eyes about two shades lighter, they really pop with green!

xoxo, Audra
